Hi guys! i know you're gonna probably say i am silly but i have to have the latest and greatest technology so i bought the table top boston accoustics hd radio when it was 500 dollars! i couldn't get any hd2 stations on it but i just figured it was because there were none but i know better now! since i live in the trenton nj area should i still be able to get hd2 stations in philly or not? the book says look for blue arrows of course we know that's fruitless but it says if i turn the knob clockwise i should get stations! so far no hd2 stations! any help would be appreciated!
That's the exact reason I haven't bought one of these things, they are a joke. Firstly, with this IBoc system they're using, you have to be able to get a strong enough signal for the HD signal to come in. Now, if you live right next to the transmitter or farely close you'll do great cause obviously the signal's gonna come through. Secondly, when these stations are running the HD and HD2 signals, it causes interference with ajacent stations. So if you like to listen to an AM station, it might not come in as well, or at all depending on how far you live or how strong your antenna might be.
Thirdly, these manufacturers of these radios are doing it all wrong. Why would anyone want to buy a table top radio to listen to high quality broadcasts? This whole HD radio thing will only work if you can take it with you in a portable player, and if they fix the interference problem with other stations. This really makes me wonder why they didn't just go with the same system as they use in the UK for DAB digital broadcast stations. But we have to be different than everyone else yet again.
thanks yeah i posted this at radio-info.com hopefully someone there can help but it's good to know it's nothing i'm doing wrong!
Hey all,
I have an HD Readio and I love it. Sometimes though, the HD signal drops. They say they are working on that problem.
You should try an amplified antenna. You can get them from Radio Shack. Also try moving the radio around in different areas in your house.
I heard steve bower's podcast on blind cool tech about hd radio. We have dab digital radio in the UK and from what i heard in that podcast, we have the better system.
